California on Alert for Critical Fire Weather This Week
A fire weather watch has been issued for residents of California due to the risk of critical fire weather conditions between Monday and Wednesday, October 19-21.
The Southeastern Lake County is under critical fire weather threat with gusts from 20 to 30 mph from Monday evening till Tuesday afternoon.
Strong, gusty winds and hot, dry air can escalate fire hazards across the Sacramento Valley, the Coastal Range, and the Sierra Nevada foothills over the next three days. Wind gusts are also possible between Wednesday night and Friday morning, October 21-23.
Areas on high fire alert include:
- Central Sacramento Valley (Glenn, Colusa, Yuba, Northern Sutter, Butte County)
- Northern Sacramento Valley to Southern Tehama County
- Southern Sacramento Valley (Yolo, Sacramento, Far Western Placer, Southern Sutter and Solano County Below 1000 ft)
- Eastern part of Shasta, Southeast Edge Shasta, Trinity
- Northern Sierra, Northern Sierra Foothills from 1000 to 3000 ft
- Tahoe - Eldorado National Forest
- North Bay Mountains
Any new fires are likely to spread at a drastic pace due to low humidity. Residents should take strict precautions to avoid any outside burning activities and monitor possible Red Flag Warnings.
